1. What is the Innovator Visa?

This visa allows you to stay in the UK for 3 years to work and develop your venture. Similar to Start-up visa, your business idea also needs to be innovative and different from other existing businesses in the market.

• Travel in and out of the UK.

• You can extend your stay for another 3 years when your visa is due to expire. Extensions are unlimited. You can apply for them whenever your visa is due to expire.

• You can apply for indefinite leave to remain if you meet the requirements and resided in the UK for 3 years.

• You can also set up other businesses.

• You have the option of bringing your partner and children over with you as dependents as long as they are eligible to travel and return to the UK.

• You have the option of switching to a different visa from this one.

 

3. What are the requirements for the Innovator Visa?

 

When applying for the Innovator Visa there are some factors that would need to be fulfilled in order for the application to be considered. The following are the current main elements that need to satisfied:

• You need to be of the age 18 or over.

• The English language requirement of reading, writing and speaking needs to be met and proven.

• Your business idea or business needs to have been assessed by an endorsed body and they need to have provided you with a certificate of endorsement.

• The certificate of endorsement has to be no less than 3 months old when applying for the Start-up Visa.

• You need to prove that you have enough personal savings to support yourself during your stay in the UK.

 

In terms of financial requirements, you need to £50,000 that needs to be available to be able to invest in your business or you need to have invested £50,000 into your business already. There are exceptions for this which can be found on the government website. Also, you will need to have at least £1,270 to support yourself.
